About our Diver Helmet Art
Jack Stoltz
Introducing the head honcho. The big cheese. The weird diver helmet art guy who designs all these deep seacret prints. My name is Jack and I am an addict.
Since my first diver print in 2009 ‘Submerged‘, its pretty safe to say an obsession has been brewing and it hasn’t really slowed down.
Before we knew it, just designing the one diver helmet related piece just wasn’t enough. We had to do it again. And than once that was also not enough we decided to do a trilogy. Than once again after realizing that was also, not enough, we decided it was time to just do nothing but diver helmet pieces. Its been 11+ years now.
Diver Helmet Art?
Yes, I am trying to do something unique. Something that isn’t already tied into pop culture like Star Wars or Marvel. My goal has to been to always find my own thing and try and make it timeless and not trendy.
I have always legit been into the diver helmet so it happened organically. My influences are my family, old movies, and old industrial & electronic music.
Grew up real artsy fartsy and then in the mid 90’s the internet came into existence and I took the very first graphic design class offered at my high school. (Willowbrook H.S.) This was circa 1995 and it pretty much changed my life.
By the late 90s I was building PC’s and learning HTML at COD & NIU. Than in the early 2000’s I started my own web development business. Which I still operate full time here in Villa Park, IL.
Oddities & Curiosities
For lovers of the strange, unusual and bizarre…the Oddities & Curiosities Expo showcases hand selected vendors, dealers, artists and small businesses with all things weird.
You can find us a handful of times throughout the year with a booth selling our diver helmet art prints at these amazing Oddities & Curiosities shows!
We have been told we are oddities ‘light‘. Which works for us. My art never did very well at your grandma’s craft show. But it works at oddities shows and we LOVE the scene.
They have some ridiculous performance art & taxidermy related activities for the whole family. It is also some of the best people watching you could ever hope for. Like super dialed in Halloween costumes in April. Just to shop. It’s awesome.
Most years we do Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit, and St. Louis. They are expanding into new cities every year and we will always consider new shows in new cities. Our fingers are crossed they will consider Milwaukee in the future.
Thanks to everyone on the Oddities & Curiosities team who puts on these amazing shows. The turn out at these shows is mind boggling. It’s a great way to meet like minded people who also like the strange and unusual.
Stoltz Design
This is my MAIN business that I started in 2003. Stoltz Design is a creative Web Design & Internet services company offering many web related services for any sized business. We have clients all over the country but most are based right here in the Chicago suburbs of Illinois.
Custom website design is our bread & butter. We develop websites for ALL sizes of businesses in many different industries! We also host, support, and offer on-going packages of all shapes and sizes.
We rebranded Stoltz Design in 2017 and it was obvious we were gonna go with our beloved diver helmet for the icon. We landed on using our Mr. Retro Furistic piece ‘Emerged‘ from 2011 for the logo! It’s always a nice conversation starter when we meet with new clients. My old logo was a praying mantis. Still got love for the mantids.
