Guess you could say it is timeless, eh? We got another diver helmet print that handles time but that’s neither here nor there. Emerged is not afraid to emerge as the #1 retro futuristic diver helmet boy. He has the class, sophistication, and charm to pull it off.
Submerged: The Sequel
‘Emerged’ is the print I allowed myself to boldly go in a proper direction once and for all with my art. Two years after creating ‘Submerged’ the itch was back. This was a time I liked diver helmets of course, but the obsession hadn’t fully blossomed yet. Pretty sure ‘Emerged’ sealed the deal. Kinda knew I was onto something I was truly feelin’ with the emergence of ‘Emerged’. Something inside compelled me to return to the diver helmet. Only this time I wanted to go more light hearted and perhaps even whimsical.
Having always been into the roaring 20s I always pictured this well-suited retro-futuristic man to be from that era. At the time this was merely a sequel, which is still true. But I had no idea it would spark the ‘Submerged Diver Helmet Series” the way it did!
The Posterchild
Our cherished retro futuristic boy ‘Emerged’ has become the Posterchild for my business Stoltz Design. Turning it into a bit of a logo and using it for my Chicagoland website development company just made sense. I started Stoltz Design out of my apartment in Lombard, IL in 2003. Back then I was pretty into praying mantises (go figure) – so that was my logo for over 10 years. But after a few years of obsessively creating diver helmet pieces I knew it was time to transition to it full time.
‘Emerged’ just had that weirdly friendly vibe I was going for with the Stoltz Design branding and it continues to work for me. Stoltz Design is my day-to-day business but creating diver helmet art is something I do for ME. For fun. It’s a passionate outlet I’m pretty excited to have.
A Popular Oddity
A handful of times out of the year you will find us selling our prints at Oddities & Curiosities art shows throughout the Midwest. Come visit our booth and say hello, check out our big art wall of prints, and grab a few free stickers! ‘Emerged’ tends to be a crowd pleaser when in person. Think it’s the weirdly dated whimsy combined with the simplicity of it all that allows it to stick out amongst the group of other diver helmet prints. He is our nice retro futurist boy.
