Half Octopus Half Showmanship
We love Creature Feature. We love all things octopus. Who doesn’t? Not much of a surprise considering we are obsessed with all things deep sea. Known for their 8 tentacles and super smart intelligence, is it a stretch to consider that our friend the octopus could be a showman? When in danger an octopus is known to camouflage itself to blend in with the environment. Changing it’s color to hide and match their surroundings. But instead, our eccentric aquatic friend uses this superpower not to hide, but to be the center of attention! When confronted he transforms into an entertainer. Our boy Creature Feature is an outgoing cephalopod with all the right moves!
Octopus Intelligence
What is the IQ of your average octopus? Some scientists have determined it to be around 140 give or take. These underwater aliens are crazy smart. You would think they have 3 brains and not 3 hearts. Yes, an octopus does, in fact, have 3 hearts believe it or not. So if in fact an octopus has an IQ over 100 then it’s safe to assume they can learn. Our special boy Creature Feature has learned. Learned how to entertain! Zing!
Oddities: TV Series
‘Oddities’ was a half-hour documentary / reality TV show that aired on the Discovery Channel for 5 seasons from 2010-2014. Watch the trailer right here! It was an extremely interesting show that followed the people and operations of a New York City antique & oddity shop called Obscura Antiques & Oddities. The employees of the shop would search flea markets, auctions, antique shows, and persona collections for unique and unusual artifacts.
Creature Feature Art Print
On a personal level I was pretty into this show when the inspiration for the Creature Feature print struck. Inspiration comes from many things. I wouldn’t consider myself to be a fan of reality television but ‘Oddities’ was in a league all it’s own. Much like Creature Feature! Both are entertaining, weird, special, and super unique. He makes a fine edition to our on-going ‘Submerged‘ diver helmet art print series.
Some things never get old and Creature Feature hopes to be entertainment forever.
